Yes. Défi Wind requires all participants to provide a doctor-signed medical certificate dated within one year of the competition’s end date. The certificate must state “no contraindication to the practice of sailing in competition” and include the doctor’s signature and stamp/seal. If you are under 18, you must also provide parental authorisation.
You can obtain a windsurfing medical certificate in the UK either through your GP, a sports medicine clinic, or an online provider such as Fit Certify. Most windsurfing organisers — including Défi Wind — require that your certificate is issued within the last 12 months. Some events may specify shorter timeframes (e.g. within 6 months), so always check the event’s official rules. If your health changes after the certificate is issued, you may need to obtain a new one.

Yes. Most windsurfing competitions — especially in France and Italy — will not accept a certificate without both a doctor’s signature and an official stamp/seal. A digital PDF certificate from Fit Certify contains all required details in a format accepted by international organisers.
In some cases, yes. If you already hold a sailing licence with a “competition” category, certain organisers may accept this instead of a medical certificate. However, most international events (including Défi Wind) still require a separate certificate for foreign participants.
Yes. Competitors under 18 are usually required to provide a valid medical certificate as well as parental or guardian authorisation. Défi Wind, for example, has a minimum age limit of 13 with additional parental consent paperwork.
