La Marmotte organisers usually provide an official medical certificate template each year, which includes a statement confirming that you have “no contraindications to participating in competitive cycling activities.” Riders without a valid racing licence are expected to use this template (or provide an equivalent certificate with the same wording).
You can normally download the template from the event website or request a copy directly from the organisers if you don’t already have it

Sports Medicine Doctor • Athlete • Founder & Medical Director at Fit Certify

I’m Simon — a sports and exercise medicine doctor, family physician, GP, academic researcher, and the founder of Fit Certify. Over the past few years, I’ve led a team of sports doctors who specialise in medical certification for endurance events across Europe, including iconic Alpine challenges like La Marmotte.
As someone who rides and runs myself, I understand the level of training that goes into preparing for a race of this scale — and how frustrating it can be when the final obstacle isn’t the Col du Galibier, but the paperwork. Fit Certify exists to make that part effortless: fast turnaround, expert review, and documentation that aligns with the requirements set by the organisers, so you can focus on performance rather than administration.
If you need advice, have questions about the medical certificate, or run into any issues with submission, just email us at hello@fitcertify.com — we’re here to help.
