To take part in Défi Wind 2026, you must provide a valid medical certificate of fitness for competitive sailing/windsurfing. This is a mandatory condition of entry — without it, your registration won’t be accepted.
Requirements of the Défi Medical Certificate
Défi Wind is demanding — long hours on the water, strong Tramontane winds, high speeds, cold spray, and heavy loads. You need to be in good health to take part safely. The medical certificate ensures you have a brief check-in with a doctor, who can review your history (e.g., for asthma, heart issues, past musculoskeletal injuries) and confirm you’re fit to windsurf competitively — or advise sensible precautions like inhalers, taping, warm-ups, or hydration plans.
This isn’t unusual — many major windsurfing and sailing events in Europe ask for a medical certificate. It’s a simple step that protects both riders and organisers by reducing avoidable risk on a fast, weather-exposed course.
Yes. All participants must present a valid medical certificate stating they are fit to compete in windsurfing. Without it, you will not be allowed to take part in the event.
The certificate must confirm you are in good health and fit for competitive windsurfing. It should be signed, stamped, and dated by a registered doctor, and issued within the required timeframe (within the last 12 months).
The Defi organisers have not yet specified a deadline for medical certificate submission, however, it is likely that you will be asked to present your certificate close to the date of the event in May.
With your medical certificate in hand, you’ll be ready to embrace the thrill of Gruissan’s Défi events. Don’t wait until the last minute — get a sport medical certificate with Fit Certify now!
